I am a marine community ecologist and a lecturer in the Biology Department at the University of Maryland. I co-direct the Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology graduate program there. I am also a Smith Conservation Research Fellow and a research associate at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, MD. I research human impacts in coastal ecosystems.
